Biological Indicators are a critical test system to verify surgical instruments have been properly sterilized before use. The client developed new technology for a rapid test system to dramatically cut down the time hospitals had to isolate instruments after sterilization. After the basic internal architecture and footprint was defined, styling studies were explored in sketch form and 3D modeling.

After the direction was chosen, all external housings and internal mechanisms including PCB footprint, heater block design, optical paths, etc. were refined while working closely with the client’s internal engineering team.
