These are a few form and styling studies for a small cycling computer. The device monitors the road cyclist’s performance and adjusts the front and rear gear ratios to maintain a constant desired rate. The client had a fully functioning PCB assembly so the housing design needed to evolve around the existing layout and components. The client was a start up so the budget for design and tooling was smaller than usual for a consumer project of this nature. The concept design, presentation, design refinement, master assembly, part engineering and drawings were completed in a couple of weeks.
The parts were sent to a quick turn molder and within five weeks they had molded parts ready to assemble and test.
